How to find the Value of a Domain: A Comprehensive Guide Using the Research Snapshot and Valuation Tools

At the heart of any domain purchase or sale is determining the value of a domain name. Are you considering buying or bidding on a domain name? Do you have one you want to sell? In this blog post, we walk you through the process of evaluating a domain using the Research Snapshot and Valuation Worksheet tools to help you make an informed decision. You can find these tools in the Domain Academy tools section of the course via DomainAcademy.com/tools.
We do the hard work of gathering all the various data you will need to determine the value of a domain name. You can use the tool’s results page as a jumping off point to dig deeper into any of the data we provide. For instance we show how popular a keyword in your domain name is in other TLDs (what comes to the right of the dot like, .com, .org or .net). How many companies are using the keyword(s), similar sales data, keyword search volume on Google, and more.
Once you do this research for the domain you can save it for later use and to share with others. If you want to make it public it is quick and easy to create a sharable link. This is really helpful is you are trying to show someone else like your team, your boss, or a domain buyer why the domain name you researched has value and what that value could be. This is much more persuasive than sharing a single dollar amount with someone. It is also valuable for you to save for yourself so you can refer to it later on and quickly refresh your memory or see how the value of a domain has changed over time.
In our accompanying video, we use a domain recommendation from DomainSmoke on X as our example: PocketSlots.com. We start by showcasing the auction tools and data, then delve deeper using DomainAcademy.com/tools for an in-depth analysis of the domain name.
